"Motherless" is a play based on the adaptation of Mira Marcinów's book of the same title, which was a finalist for the Nike Literary Award 2021, and the author received the Polityka Passport 2021 for it.
The play brings to the stage the intense experience of being lost in love and loss. As director Patryk Warchoł puts it: "In attempting to share the experience of the death of the Mother, the absent heroine of "Motherless", we encounter an obstacle: we become immersed in a story about love for her; about her absence, memories, and our own childhood in the post-transformation reality of the 1990s. The Mother's death contributes to the creation of a poem about her. A poem in which we lose ourselves, searching for her. The play is an attempt to find and understand love."
The performance was produced by the Kreacje Teatralne Foundation. The performances are organized thanks to the support of the Śródmieście District of the Capital City of Warsaw.
